Safety and Slings

There have been many reports in the news lately regarding slings and safety; including a recall of the Infantino SlingRider. I believe the message and intent are right on. As a mother myself I believe the safety of our children is of the utmost importance.

When wearing a sling it is necessary to be mindful of your baby's health, comfort and safety at all times. I strongly encourage any caregiver or parent who uses a sling to be informed about sling safety.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has detailed information on their website with guidelines and simple illustrations.

Sad Day for Austin

Sadly, today the Austin Baby Store has closed it's doors. This one of a kind store has nurtured many mamas and babes; and it is very heartbreaking to know they will no longer be serving the Austin community.

I met Erin when we were both selling our respective wares at the Austin Birth Fair (when Austin Baby was just a seed, an idea, a dream.) I didn't know then that Erin would become one of the most amazing women I know and would inspire me as a mom, a business owner, and a friend.

She had a vision of a place for mamas (and families) that would offer more than products, a place that could be more than a store. And although they are closing I feel that Austin Baby always held true to what Erin envisioned.

It was a place where mamas could get advice, access products once only available online, ask questions and get knowledgeable answers (all while your little ones were playing), where you could nurse openly, receive customer service above and beyond, and where you could be more than a customer, more than a vendor, more than an employee - you could be part of the Austin Baby family. Erin and Angela brought something really special to our Austin community and I don't think there will ever be another place like Austin Baby.

To Erin and Angela - Thank you for your vision, thank you for inviting me into your family, and thank you always for your friendship.
